Dear Friends in Christ,
As you may be aware, our Hospital Chaplain, Rev. Tania Dunbar, is employed by the Loddon Mallee Presbytery on a part-time basis. Tania is not in a formal placement and is funded for 0.4 of a full-time position by the generous donations from individuals and congregations throughout this Presbytery. The cost for this ministry this year will be a little over $45,000.
Thanks to the generosity of you all, Tania has been able to provide support, encouragement and an important spiritual presence for those patients undergoing surgery and other medical treatments during their stay in Bendigo.
I write to you as a matter of urgency regarding the future of the Hospital Chaplaincy.
It is not possible for this important work to continue for much longer without continued prayerful and financial support from the community both in Bendigo and from the rural towns who so often must travel long distances for specialised medical treatment.
As we begin this New Year, please give urgent consideration, both as individuals and as congregations to donate and give support for this vitally important ministry.
