I can’t think of a song that sums up this time more perfectly. Heart in hand, hope alive, it will be ok. Particularly in the beginning when the situation in Italy was spiralling, then New York got on board to outdo them, as only New York can, and
life here was uncertain this song aptly titled ‘Brave’ reminded me that just by showing up, continuing to care and love one another we are indeed brave.
As chaos has reigned and the world as we know it has gone up in flames, we have seen the brightest of humanity shine. We’ve seen neighbours looking out for one another, people dressing up to take their rubbish bins out, endless video calls from all walks of life and overwhelming support for our healthcare workers.
I often listen to this song of a morning as I’m working out how to keep a crawling, climbing 10-month-old occupied without her friends to play with or trips to her favourite place, the pool. It’s a great way to start the day, reminding all of us that the current situation is only temporary and we are the lucky ones with hearts full of life and love.
The journey has been and is going to continue to be long but we are looking forward to being able to celebrate together.
In love and peace
Emily
